Privacy
Sojournal is a travel journal. The whole point is that your trips, photos, and notes belong to you. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
What we keep
- Your account. An email address so you can sign in and sync across devices. That's it — no name required.
- Your trips. The trips, pins, day-by-day notes, country statuses, and wishlist you create. These are stored on our servers so they sync between your devices.
- Your photos. Images you attach to a trip, stored in private file storage. If a photo has embedded location data, it stays attached to that photo — we don't build a separate location profile from it.
- Basic diagnostics. Crash and error reports that help us fix bugs. These don't contain the contents of your journals.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data, ever.
- We don't run third-party advertising trackers inside the app.
- We don't read your journals. Access is enforced at the database level (row-level security): your account can only ever read and write its own data.
Where it lives
Sojournal runs on our own self-hosted infrastructure (a Supabase stack: Postgres, authentication, and file storage) rather than a patchwork of third-party services. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
Sharing a journal
Every trip is private by default. If you choose to share a journal as a read-only link, only the trip you share becomes viewable by anyone with that link — and you can revoke it at any time.
Offline first
You can capture a whole trip with no signal. Entries, pins, and photos are stored on your device and sync to your account the next time you're online.
Your data, your call
- Export. Take any trip with you — entries, pins, and full-resolution photos — as a tidy archive you own outright.
- Delete. Delete a trip, or your whole account, and the associated data is removed from our systems.
- Access. Ask us what we hold for your account at any time.
Children
Sojournal isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
